Professor Charles Morin, PhD, is a Professor of Psychology and Director of the Sleep Research Centre at the Université Laval. He holds a Canada Research Chair in behavioural sleep medicine. He is considered one of the foremost experts in the field of insomnia. His research has led to the development of tools that are used around the world, such as the Insomnia Severity Index, and the Sleep Beliefs and Attitudes Scale. Dr. Morin's research aims are to develop therapeutic approaches to help people with insomnia. His team is at the forefront of the study of alternative, non-pharmacological, therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), to treat insomnia. He is the Past President of the Canadian and World Sleep Societies and Past Chair of the AASM insomnia practice guidelines.
